Dire Maul North Tribute Run Guide

Cheap WoW WOTLK Classic Gold

Introduction:

Built long ago by a covert sect of Queen Azshara's followers, this ancient
city was used by these arcanists to process the Queen's most important
demands in secret. Thousands of years have passed since the destruction of
the Well, and Dire Maul's three wings have been overrun by ghostly Highborn,
demons, and ogres. Only the most daring party of adventurers can enter this
dungeon and face the ancient evils within.

Dire Maul North is the northern wing (duh!) and is populated by Ogres.
There are 2 ways of doing this instance,

1) Kill every boss for the items they drop
2) Tribute Run

Tribute Run means you will try to keep as many of the Guards (bosses) alive
and then when you have killed the King of the Ogres (the only boss you do
want to kill) you will get 1 item from each Guard you left alive cause now
you are the new king since you have beaten the old one (that s the ogre
way). The items from this tribute to you as new king are often better then
what the guards will drop themselves so most ppl do that and that I will
explane here (though kill 1 or 2 guards in the process could be possible to
if your party wants a drop from them).
The items given to you will just be the amount of guards you left a live and
just random items, its not like items are bound to certain guards you need 2
keep alive.

Also the king drops some nice stuff to

Classes:

-NEED-
1x Warrior
1x Priest or Druid (Restoration specced!)
1x Rogue/Mage for Sap/Sheep AND Rogue for lockpicking *this is why I prefer
rogue*

-OPTIONAL-
1x Paladin/Druid, 2nd Healer, offtank, damage
1x Hunter/Warlock for Ice trap+Pet/Banish+Pet+Soulstone and for ranged DPS
1x Any class from the -NEED- but its better not to have same classes in my
eyes

Items NEEDED for perfect tribute run:

- For Ice Trap to put 1 guard in for eternity
1x Frost Oil
1x Thorium Widget
- To fake the guard captain into walking away
1x Ogre Suit
- If you don't have a suit already made you will need to have the following
and make 1 inside the instance
8x Rugged Leather
2x Bolt of Runecloth
1x Rune Thread
1x Ogre Tannin (gotten inside instance)

- To open the door to the instance
1x Crescent Key (or 300 lockpick rogue) ~ from DM east

Location: Ferelas

Entrance of instance: 62,24

CAUTION: KEYS ARE DUNGEON BOUND! When you wipe the person with a key gotten
from inside (inner door and courtyard) should NOT release and a resser
should hurry back because if you release the key gets destroyed!

How to kill basic mobs:
Crowd control one with sap/sheep.
Another if you have another class to do a CC (ice trap or maybe you have
both a mage and rogue).
Kill the casters first, so don't CC them (unless there are 2, then you CC 1
of them and kill the other), they go down fastest.
Kill the others which weren't CC'd.
Kill the one with the shortest CC on it.
Kill the last.
L00t .

-- Outside --
- Pretty easy part without bosses (if you have a lockpick rogue) and if you
watch the patrols you'll be fine here. -

Open the door outside the instance, before entering the instance portal buff
up so that you can pull the patrol @ entrance right away without needing to
wait for it to walk back to you.
Enter instance, pull the mob straight ahead back towards the instance portal
(to avoid patrols).
Wait for 2nd patrol (1 ogre and 3 dogs) and kill those to.
Turn left (right is possible to but left is shorter) and when the 1 man
patrol just walked away (so there are just 3 ogre's standing) kill.
- if you don t have a rogue - 1 person walk down and pull guard up for the
inner door key (make sure you don t have adds when you pull this guy). Basic
fight, nothing special, just an hard hitting ogre.
Hug the right wall/ridge and wait for the 1 man patrol to come back and kill
it.
You can skip the 3 on the left (if you have some1 low level with you kill em
just to be sure though) and kill the 3 in front of you (make sure you don t
aggro the ones you skipped or patrols from upstairs.
Move up and wait for the 2 patrols walking there, pull them down so you
don't get them both at once.
Kill the 2 mages.
Wait for the guard to move UP again and then kill the 2 brutes.
Then wait for the dog patrol and pull them away from stairs so you won t
aggro the guard.
Kill the 2 mages ahead.
Then hug the wall to get to the door BUT watch out for the guard (hunter can
use track humies to be sure) and if he's coming just run back a bit.
Now everyone hug the door so you won't aggro the guard at any time.
One gets the key from the box in the middle, preferred is an rogue/druid in
stealth but any other class watching out can do it to.
Now go inside (lockpick or key).

-- Inside --
- Watch out for the eyes and you'll be fine if you can do the part with the
ice trap clean -

Wait for the green eye and kill it ranged (about 175hp).
Kill the warlock and reaver.
Repeat last part.
AoE the bugs here, not to many so you'll be able to handle it (I've done it
way to often with only a hunter for AoE).
Kill eye ranged, prefer an rogue or hunter so that if they aggro the mob
behind it they can vanish/feign.

- Now comes the hard part -

When the guard walks away pull the 2 warlocks and minions all the way back
to the previous room (1 person pulls and the others wait there) and kill
them.
Now when guard walks away again, some1 set the trap (1x frost oil and 1x
widget needed and you just operate with it to fix it).
Wait for boss to walk into it and just /lol at him.
The goblin can make you the suit so if you already had a tannin you can make
it now or else later when you get the tannin.
Skip the ones in the corner. (If you like to you can kill them).
Kill the 2 warlocks.
Walk up.
Kill the 2 on the right side.
Kill the 2 on the left side (can skip but they give the tannin needed).
Don't look the basket YET.
Regen if needed.
Loot tannin from the basket (It's BoP!!).
An ogre will come walking down.
Kill him, he's no big deal
Walk up.
Kill the 2 reavers on the left side at the door.
Open the door (lockpick or key).
The next 3 are linked! (Until 1.6 patch they weren t) so you will get them
all 3.
1 person uses the suit and talk to the guard captain, after some talking he
will go away.

-- Outside again --
- Easy to do, just some AoE and then the final fight -

CC 1 a captain on the right side and pull the other inside, IF you have a
dwarf priest fear ward the tank because the captain can use that.
Pull the other in and fight in corner to avoid getting feared into the other
side
Skip the left side.
AoE the dogs.

-- The Boss Fight --
- Keep the add busy and don t let him heal and you'll be fine -

@@ The King @@
This guy is tough; he can take a beating and can dish out some nice hits but
he aunt all that hard, nothing special other then fear.
Watch out for the fear (fear ward helps and when you do get feared dispel is
ur friend).
Just try to burst out a lot of dmg in the end so that the add will have
least time to heal him.

@@ The Add @@
This guy is the problem, he heals!
Either an paladin or hunter should keep this guy busy,
You can trap him and try to keep the big pole between him and the king (you
can also use LOS with the pole to pull him into an ice trap or just towards
you).
Just keep him busy till the king dies (don t kill him cause that would mean
less tribute), I dun think ppl can actually take him down on their own in
the time the other 4 kill the king. ..
Once the king goes low on HP he will try to heal, stun or scatter shot him.

-- Tribute --
- Enjoy! -
Talk to the add and to the ogre coming up the altar (everyone should).
Link items in chest and /roll on them 1 by 1
