The Violet Hold (previously known as dungeons of Dalaran) is a prison complex located in Dalaran. It is the third instance to be located within the bounds of a capital city (after the Stormwind Stockade and Orgrimmar's Ragefire Chasm).

The Violet Hold is a dungeon in the World of Warcraft game. The level range for the normal dungeon is 72-77. The instance was released in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The dungeon contains 7 bosses. The end boss of The Violet Hold is Cyanigosa.
The Violet Hold is similar to The Black Morass - Opening the Dark Portal in the previous expansion. You get wave of adds then a boss then another wave and another boss, another wave and then Cyanigosa who is the only guaranteed boss, all the other bosses are random, selected from the list below. Cyanigosa is a female Blood Elf who when she lands from her jump will turn into a dragon. Unlike Black Morass, the bosses you encounter will be random. To get the achievement that says you`ve killed all the bosses will require of course multiple runs on separate days. Some bosses will appear more frequently than others.
All the adds will try to escape and the dungeon instance will end when any of the adds has managed to reach the entrance and escaped the prison. If you reach the last wave and one add has managed to escape then you would have to restart the whole instance over again.
Violet Hold is located on Dalaran high in the sky. Access to Dalaran is through a mage or flying there. If you`ve never been to Dalaran ever and no mages are able, you need to get to Crystalsong Forest where there are Mages that will give you a couple of quests to get up and down. When you get there first time, don`t forget to get the flight point so you can go there whenever you want.
Violet Hold entrance is on the south eastern area of the city over ground and near the flight point. To start the instance, you need to talk to the female mage and get her to start the fights.
