The Shado-pan Monastery was the second announced 5-man dungeon of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Located in Kun-Lai Summit, this mountain retreat serves as the home and training grounds of the mysterious Shado-pan clan, a ninja-like pandaren faction dedicated to protecting Pandaria. Again, the Shahave been set free and threaten the Shado-pan's base of operations, and you¡¯re tasked with dispatching them.[1]

The monastery itself is located in the mountains of northwest Kun-Lai Summit, northwest of Mount Neverest and up the mountain path from Winter's Blossom. It can also be accessed via an unnamed path leading northwest from the Neverest Basecamp, skirting around the north of Mount Neverest.

Outside the monastery to the southeast, is The Emperor's Burden - Part 7, one of the objectives of the Pandaria exploration achievement [The Seven Burdens of Shaohao].

During the Landfall, Chen Stormstout brought wounded Vol'jin and Tyrathan Khort to the Monastery to recuperate.

War has spread across Pandaria, and the destructive conflict between the Horde and Alliance has led to turmoil in the majestic Shado-pan Monastery. There, three malevolent entities--the Sha of Violence, the Sha of Hatred, and the Sha of Anger--have erupted from their prisons. Although the Sha of Anger fled the secluded monastery completely, the remaining sha have begun wreaking havoc on the site's brave Shado-pan defenders.

Overview

You enter and see Ban Bearheart stealthed. You fight Shado-Pan Wardens that creates ambushes for you to encounter. You enter Gu Cloudstrike's Dojo as you see him kill Pandaren. Kill him and his Jade Serpent to get through. You see Sha manifestation throughout the instance. You enter Master Snowdrift's Dojo and fight his initiates and Snowdrift himself. Afterward, you walk through deeper into the Monastery and encounter the Sha of Violence. Kill him to gain access to the Grove of Falling Blossoms. Take out the remaining Shado-Pan infested to encounter Taran Zhu. Although he is mind controlled by the Sha of Hatred, you still fight Taran Zhu himself. After you take out the Sha out of him, he regains his strength and hunts for the Sha of Hatred to end it, once and for all.

The Shado-Pan Monastery becomes available to level 87+ players after completing all the Shado-Pan quests in the Kun-Lai Summit. The monastery is the most important training center for Shado-Pan in Pandaria, but became corrupted, which led to most of the Shado-Pan monks turning against one another. Players will have to fight against the corrupted Shado-Pan leaders as well as the Sha of Violence within the monastery in order to return the center to its honorable ways.

Encounters

• Master Snowdrift ¨C Master Snowdrift recognizes that the battles between the Horde and the Alliance have contributed to the monastery's dire state. Heroes seeking this wary pandaren's loyalty must first best his students. Only those who prevail can face Snowdrift himself, a paragon of martial arts who has dedicated his life to attaining perfection of body and mind.
• Gu Cloudstrike ¨C Before the escape of the sha, Gu Cloudstrike was entrusted with training the elite Shado-Pan spellcasters. Now this formerly gentle and reserved pandaren revels in unleashing his astounding powers, with devastating consequences. He has asserted control over the mystical Azure Serpent, and his students are helpless in the wake of Cloudstrike's lethal attacks.
• Sha of Violence ¨C Bloodthirsty, ruthless, and savage, the Sha of Violence is unfettered within the Shado-Pan Monastery. Feeding on the Horde and Alliance's brutality, the entity gleefully ravages the monks who struggle to impede the monstrous onslaught.
• Taran Zhu ¨C The Sha of Hatred has tainted Taran Zhu, the Shado-Pan's pragmatic and mighty leader. Once devoted to protecting his beloved home, Zhu now burns with seething hatred for all life, twisting his perception of everything--and everyone--around him.
