Blackrock Depths Walkthrough, Part 3: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IF YOU'VE COMPLETED THE QUEST RUNS on the previous pages, you're ready for the final step: "Jail Break!" This quest involves completely clearing out two rings of mobs in the Detention Block of Blackrock Depths and safely escorting Marshal Windsor out of the instance, one of the last major hurdles to getting the key to Onyxia's Lair. It's pretty simple with a decent group and some crowd control -- here's what to do: 1. With your five-man group, enter the Detention Block and clear the entire center room. Basically, the plan is going to be to clear everything first, for one simple reason: if you wipe before the escort, you can simply continue clearing where you left off; if you wipe during the escort, there's a good chance you'll have to start from scratch. 2. Start by clearing the main center room, then begin working your way to Marshal Windsor, but take the long way, through the path on the far right. (If you look at our BRD walkthrough, part 1, it's the passage marked #1). This is the path Windsor will take on his escort, so you might as well clear it now. 4. Clear the second ring of mobs, but don't bother opening any of the cells -- Windsor can help with that later. This should take about 30 minutes, assuming no wipes. 5. With the second ring cleared, head back to Windsor's cell via the path you already cleared. On the way, there's an armory room with some mobs inside -- clear it out now, because a second group will respawn here during the escort. 6. Go back to Windsor's cell, but make sure NO ONE TALKS TO HIM YET. If one person jumps the gun and starts the quest too soon, other people may not be able to complete the quest. First, everyone needs to turn in "A Shred of Hope," without accepting "Jail Break." If anyone has attempted and failed "Jail Break" on a previous occasion, they'll need to abandon it here as well. Once you're positive EVERYONE has turned in "A Shred of Hope," one person can accept "Jail Break!" and start the escort. The rest of the group should be prompted if they'd like to join in, and all should be good. Of course, there's always the chance someone in a pickup group might screw things up; the best thing you can do is make sure you turn in "A Shred of Hope" to Windsor before anyone has a chance to accidentally start "Jail Break!" 8. Windsor is on a mission to release another captive from the other ring, which is where he leads your group. I've seen groups use Windsor to clear this ring, and do it successfully, but I've also seen them wipe due to Windsor aggroing too many mobs at once, which is why I recommend clearing everything before starting the escort. Ultimately, it's your group's choice to make. 9. As Windsor goes through the second ring, he'll open prison cells, the first few of which will have enemy mobs, including a few named NPCs. If you cleared the hallways beforehand, fighting the cell dwellers is a snap. For those final steps in the chain following "Jail Break!", check out the Onyxia Key quest page. Congrats! |
